Lobby and Advocacy

AWCA regularly engage in awareness raising and capacity building activities for women and children. Different programs around themes and issues related to women and children are conducted time to time. AWCA has helped  150( onehundred fifty)) women and children affected by sexual abuse,rape,domestic violence,abandon and desertion,drugs and alcohol abuse,conflicts,HIV/AIDS,Disasters and etc in lobby and advocacy for their rights and entitlements ,care and protection ,relief and rehabilitation.

Also, AWCA strongly support building second generation women leadership. It engage on several forms of women leadership training and advocacy for increasing participation of women in policy and decision making bodies at all levels.

In 2013, AWCA was nominated as member of District Criminals Injuries and Rehabilitation Board to provide financial assistance and support services to victims of rape: A scheme for restorative justice under social welfare department. These nomination and scheme greatly enhanced effective interventions in helping the affected victims by way of bringing about justice, care and protection, relief and rehabilitation to them. Most of the victims were helped to avail financial assistance of Rs. 45000 – 120000/- under this scheme.

Vocational Training 

AWCA set up a Vocational training centre at its field office in Jacintha’s Rehoboth, S. Munhoi Village, Singngat Tribal Development Block, where  training on different skills are organized time to time.Altogether 60 (sixty)women and girls were trained in tailoring,weaving and embroidery , 20 (twenty) men  trained in carpentry skills and 60 (sixty) girls trained in basic  computer knowledge.

AWCA Production Centre, “Zomi Puan Shop”

AWCA set up an outlet called “ZOMI PUAN SHOP” at the main Market of the district.This outlet help the already trained women and girls in selling out their products. Besides, poor women weavers of various parts of the district are also helped to outlet their weaving products in this outlet.

 

Livelihood Project

In collaboration with NERCoRMP (North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project) funded by North Eastern Council (NEC). Under this project, AWCA implemented several activities of livelihood program in farm and non-farm activities.

Presently,it works in Sangaikot and Tuibuong Block of Churachandpur District.

Sangaikot Block-42 (forty-two) Villages

Tuibuong Block-4  (four) Villages.

Charity School

With an aim to provide quality education to  poor children affected by the construction of Khuga Multipurpose dam, AWCA  runs a charity school called Solace Academy at the campus of its field office, Jacintha Rehoboth,S Munhoi Village of Singngat TD Block in Churachandpur district, Manipur. It was established in 2014.The students are mainly from families affected by poverty and the construction of Khuga Multipurpose dam.

In 2017 ,there are 86 (eighty six ) students from Prep.to Class: X (ten) with 11(eleven ) staff.

Time to time,various individuals and agency came up to support the school in cash and in kinds.
